Birmingham's Choice for Paint Protection, Tint, and Custom Finishes

Paint correction in Birmingham, AL is one of the most impactful services you can invest in for your vehicle. Over time, swirl marks, fine scratches, water spots, and oxidation accumulate on your paint, dulling the finish and making even a well-kept vehicle look tired. Standard washing cannot remove these defects. It takes a machine polishing process performed by someone who knows how to work the paint safely and effectively.

At Exquisite Car Design, paint correction is approached with precision and patience. Before any polishing begins, a full paint decontamination removes bonded surface contaminants including iron fallout, tar, and road grime. That foundation is what allows the polishing stages to perform at their best, delivering a finish that reflects light cleanly and responds better to any coating or sealant applied afterward.

Whether you are preparing for a ceramic coating, getting ready to sell, or simply want the paint looking the way it should, the correction packages are designed to meet you where your vehicle is and deliver a result worth seeing.

What Makes Paint Correction Worth It

Results You Can See Immediately

Paint correction produces a visible difference from the moment your vehicle leaves the shop. Swirl marks and scratches that scatter light in every direction are removed, leaving a smooth, consistent surface that reflects cleanly. Under direct sun or showroom lighting, the difference is striking.

The Ideal Foundation for Coating

If you are considering ceramic coating, paint correction should always come first. A coating bonds to whatever surface it is applied over, which means any defects left in the paint are sealed in permanently. Correcting the paint first ensures your coating sits over the cleanest, most reflective surface possible.

Long-Lasting With the Right Sealant

Both of our paint correction packages finish with a paint sealant application, extending the life of your results and giving your paint a layer of defense against the environmental exposure that caused the defects in the first place.

How the Paint Correction Process Works

Every paint correction at Exquisite Car Design follows a structured process designed to deliver consistent results from the first step to the last.

Exterior Wash and Decontamination

Paint correction produces a visible difference from the moment your vehicle leaves the shop. Swirl marks and scratches that scatter light in every direction are removed, leaving a smooth, consistent surface that reflects cleanly. Under direct sun or showroom lighting, the difference is striking.

Paint Inspection

With the surface clean, the paint is inspected under controlled lighting to assess the type and depth of defects. This step determines which polishing approach is appropriate and confirms the package scope before any machine work begins.

Machine Polishing

Polishing is performed in stages depending on the package selected. The Enhancement uses a single polishing stage for light defects, while the Rejuvenation uses a two-stage compound and polish for deeper damage. Each panel is worked methodically to maximize defect removal without compromising paint thickness.

Sealant Application and Final Inspection

Once polishing is complete, a paint sealant is applied across the entire vehicle to lock in the corrected finish. A final inspection confirms the result before your vehicle is returned.

Paint Correction FAQ

  • What is a clear coat?

The clear coat is the outermost layer of your vehicle's paint system, sitting on top of the base coat and acting as the first line of defense against UV rays, contaminants, and everyday abrasion. It also gives your paint its gloss and depth. Paint correction works within this layer, removing a small, controlled amount to eliminate swirl marks, fine scratches, and oxidation.

  • What is paint correction?

Paint correction is a machine polishing process that removes surface defects including swirl marks, fine scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation. Unlike waxes or sealants that fill defects temporarily, paint correction physically levels the clear coat to eliminate them entirely.

  • How do I know which package is right for my vehicle?

The right package depends on the type and depth of defects present. Light swirling and minor surface scratches typically respond well to our Enhancement package. Deeper scratches, heavy swirling, or significant oxidation usually require the Rejuvenation. If you are unsure, reach out and we will take a look at your vehicle and make a recommendation.

  • Will paint correction remove all scratches?

Paint correction removes defects within the clear coat layer. Scratches that have penetrated into the base coat or primer cannot be removed by polishing and may require touch-up paint. During the pre-service inspection, any damage outside the scope of correction is identified before work begins.

  • Should I get ceramic coating after paint correction?

Ceramic coating applied immediately after paint correction is one of the best combinations you can make for your vehicle. The correction leaves the paint at its best, and the coating preserves that result for years. Learn more on our Ceramic Coating page.

  • How long does paint correction take?

The Enhancement is typically completed in approximately one day. The Rejuvenation generally requires additional time depending on vehicle size and defect severity. A clear turnaround estimate is provided when you book.
